BBB 2: Episodes 7 & 8

Sorry for the super late blog, but we were travelling & there was no time. Quick synopsis of the two episodes:

Episode 7: the merge! Everyone is making alliances with each other but it looks like Brawn & Beauty will gang up on Brains in the end. Then Probst arrives & gets everyone's infections looked at by a doctor & Neal gets medevacked but will still serve on the jury. The castaways & the viewers of the show all feel like this was quite an anticlimactic way to end the episode.

Episode 8: the alpha males get more alpha male-y and belittle the women while congratulating themselves on being kings of the world. Cydney shows her true potential by rallying everyone against them & blindsiding Nick. G'night, Robot.

The Teams:

Bagdrea "Beautiful Mind" - 78 points
  1. Caleb (6 pts)
  2. Tai (27 pts)
  3. Nick (38 pts)
  4. Joe (7 pts)
MoonBee "Dairy Kings" - 53 points
  1. Neal (23 pts)
  2. Julia (14 pts)
  3. Scot (7 pts)
  4. Aubry (9 pts)
Michal & Ben "Cock of the Walk" - 45 points
  1. Anna (9 pts)
  2. Jason (14 pts)
  3. Peter (9 pts)
  4. Debbie (13 pts)
Doug & Bri "She-Ra" - 19 points
  1. Liz (-2 pts)
  2. Jenny (-6 pts)
  3. Michele (18 pts)
  4. Cydney (9 pts)

Dreg: Alecia - 0 points

Power Rankings:

I have no idea, and pretty much haven't had a clue this entire season! It's not like these players are strategic geniuses or anything, and in fact it's probably because so many of these players are pretty dumb that it's hard to predict. That and the medevacs I suppose. So, I'm not going to do an in-depth analysis, but if forced to choose, I'd rank our teams like this:

1. Beautiful Mind - they have the point lead & Tai who I still think is favored to win the whole thing.
2. Dairy Kings - they have 3 players left, none of them awesome, but none of them are super crappy either
3. She-Ra - they have Cydney who is proving to be a real contender. If she takes out the rest of Brawn she could win quite a few challenges on the way to final tribal
4. Cock of the Walk - Jason's in trouble & Debbie's game lacks subtlety.

Player Rankings:

  1. Tai
  2. Cydney
  3. Scot
  4. Aubry
  5. Jason
  6. Debbie
  7. Julia
  8. Joe
  9. Michele
Douche of the Week:
Please feel free to vote for DoWs for episodes 7, 8, and 9 through next week in either this post or the next one. I'm going to vote for Nick for episode 8, and abstain from voting on episode 7.

Doug - FYI that i have created a "History" tab for you in the spreadsheet so you can add info on who won in previous seasons.

Jason for DoW on merge week - He had no idea how popular autism was?? Poor word choice.

Nick for DoW on week 8. His ouster was delicious.

It's been awhile since we've seen a real women's alliance on this show. Hope they stick to it.

I vote for Nick for DOW for week 8. He was so cocky that he thought no one would notice how paternalistic he was when the women returned! But, wow, I didn't realize he was such a point-earner! He had almost as many points as some of the teams!

And, yeah, I forgot about Jason's use of his daughter's story to win sympathy and poor word choice, so i'll vote for him for week 7.

Loved this last episode! Go women's alliance!

Nick for DoW x2. I was actually starting to like him a bit more but hubris proved to be a male downfall once again. Hopefully Tai can win and Joe can stick around a bit longer to complete the Reality Show Triple Crown for The Bag.

"Debbie's game lacks subtlety" lol. Debbie deserves a DoW vote due to her laughably forceful "alliance" construction. But then I remembered Neal left the game with an idol in his pocket. Seriously, dude? You're so self-absorbed you don't even consider what you could do to help someone else? C'mon man. Neal DoW. This was especially tilting as an Aubry owner. Then Jason DoW in episode 8.

Cydney/Michele is a strong duo for She-Ra. Why are you so low on Michele? She and Cydney could conceivably finish 1-2. Cydney made a huge move. I wasn't really considering her before this week but now suddenly she might be the #1 contender since Tai is aligned with the minority.

You summed up our team well, though I think you're too high on Scot. But it could be enough this season. Bri & Doug got in too deep of a hole, your team is dead in the water & Bagdrea has two males left in a female-alliance season.

Thanks for the history tab. I'll get to that at some point.

I'll go Jason DoW for week 7. I'll go Nick DoW for week 8.

Other considerations for week 8 DoW:
- Tai for spilling the beans on the idols and super idol. (But it all plays out hilariously in week 9)
- Scot for his horrible Forrest Gump impression.

The random vote for Jason was very confusing. (but this also gets explained in episode 9)
